Echo Australis 2013

Friends – It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 1st Echo Australis meeting. We think this is the most southerly-located echo meeting in the world (unless there is a secret echo society in Patagonia or Tierra del Fuego).

Australasia is blessed with wonderful cardiology and echo meetings. These are great opportunities to hear about the science of echocardiography, including from some of the industry’s leaders. We don’t seek to replace or compete with these meetings. Our interest is more about the task of how clinicians interpret studies – especially how echo readers process the often conflicting components of an echo exam, and how they integrate new technology.  The meetings are intentionally limited to ~15 attendees. This is an interactive process – all attendees should expect to participate, and we are all here to learn.

The presenters share a total of about 40 years of experience of mentoring trainees through the interpretation of echo images.  In the excitement of the multimodality imaging era, we don’t want to lose the role of echocardiography as cardiology’s tool of choice for evaluation of cardiovascular physiology. We hope that you share our enthusiasm.

We appreciate the provision of an unrestricted educational grant from Menarini Australia, the assistance of our sonographer colleagues, and your interest.
